Editor of 'The Mathematical Tourist' in 'The Mathematical Intelligencer' (1997 - 2017). Weekly column 'Professor Pi' in the Belgian newspaper 'Het Laatste Nieuws' (2017 - 2019), continued bimonthly in EOS. Author of nine books, of which 'Africa and Math' and 'Dark and bright mathematics' are in English, while his 'Math Coloring Book' is rather universal (though it has special Dutch and Chinese versions).

D. Huylebrouck worked at universities in Congo until President Mobutu froze Belgian foreign aid. He then went to Portugal and to the Overseas Division of the University of Maryland, until his American students left for Iraq. He returned to Africa, to Burundi, but the genocides in the region cut short his stay. In 1996 he started teaching at the Faculty of Architecture of the KU Leuven in Belgium.
